CSE film nominated for international green
award once again
New Delhi, December 8, 2004: A public service ad film on Rainwater
Harvesting, produced by Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), has received a
nomination at Earth Vision -- the 13th Tokyo Global Environmental Film Festival 2004.
CSEs acclaimed 90-second film had
earlier won a nomination at the recently concluded Wildscreen 2004 film festival in
Bristol, UK. It has also won the Best Documentary award on the special theme of
Water for Life at the Vatavaran 2003 film festival organised by the Centre for
Media Studies in New Delhi.
The prestigious Earth Vision film festival
has been held annually in the Japanese capital since 1992 to promote better understanding
about the environment through moving images. Nominated films from Asia, Oceania and
Polynesia are screened at this festival.
Directed by noted film actress Nandita Das,
scripted by former O&M creative head Soumya Sen and shot by ace cinematographer Ravi K
Chandra, Rainwater Harvesting is part of CSEs ongoing efforts to spread water
literacy in India. The film highlights the key role people can play in conserving and
managing water and has been telecast on several leading national and international
television channels.
This year, Earth Vision received 110
entries; 16 of these, including Rainwater Harvesting have made it to the top. All
nominated films will be screened for the final jury from February 4-6, 2005 for awarding
the Earth Vision Grand Prize, the Juror's Special Prize for Children's Film, the
Excellence Prize and the Earth Vision Award.
