Training on Septage Management: Towards City Wide Sanitation

Date: November 24-26, 2014

‘Septage’ is both solid and liquid waste that accumulates in onsite sanitation systems (OSS) e.g. septic tanks. This has three main components – scum, effluent and sludge. It has an offensive odour, appearance and contains significant levels of grease, grit, hair, debris and pathogenic micro organisms. The construction and management of OSS are left largely to ineffective local practices and there is lack of holistic septage management practices.

Green Clearance Analysis: April to June 2014

Given the election season in larger part of the last quarter, and transition into a new government, the accordance of green clearances by the union Ministry of Environment and Forests has followed a relatively slow pace.

Capacity building on E-waste and E-waste Rules

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), is an independent public interest research organization, which aims to increase public awareness on science, technology, environment and development. We’re glad to inform you that CSE has joined hands with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to build capacities of SPCBs on effective implementation of E-waste Rules.

CSE and GIZ are conducting a series of training programme on ‘Capacity building on E-waste and E-waste Rules’ on following dates:
