Bonn, June 13: The UNFCCC climate talks were once again accused of being unfair and not inclusive, this time by Venezuela and a host of NGO observers, in Bonn. Too much fragmentation was not fulfilling the cause of a transparent negotiation, these groups claimed.

Climate change negotiators from all over the world will convene at Bonn over the next fortnight to resolve key deadlocks that led to the stalemate at Bangkok earlier this year after the initial euphoria over Cancun Agreements died down.

Workshop on a Framework for Various Approaches

On May 19, a workshop organised by the UNFCCC under the AWG-LCA track was held at Bonn. The workshop was mandated by the UNFCCC at Durban last year in order to better understand the multiple approaches countries took towards achieving their mitigation targets. The purpose of this was to explore the concept of a framework through which these approaches could be recognized by the UNFCCC and counted towards national pledges.
