Policy action

Guwahati has taken lead in introducing JnNURM buses in the north east and the bus system is experiencing growth in ridership. The current master plan is based on integrated transport-land use planning and aims to improve mobility. This plan is based on traffic and transportation studies

Air Pollution control:

Air quality monitoring stations have been set up.
3 wheelers are being converted to LPG in a phased manner since 2007.
Upgraded computerized automobile pollution testing equipment have been installed at PUC centers

Mobility management:

Multi story car park and LRTS has been proposed in the city master plan.
Traffic surveys and studies have been conducted for city master plan development.
On street parking survey has been conducted.
