Programme Manager - Renewable Energy

CSE started its engagement with renewable energy for sustainable low carbon development in 2010. CSE has established itself as a prominent player domestically in formulating and advocating renewable energy policies and now it is poised to expand internationally.

Job Profile

The candidate will head a team of researchers who will cover all aspects of renewable energy – policy development, technology innovation and market dynamics – especially as they relate to equitable access, sustainable supply and climate change.  The candidate will report to Director (Energy) who will give overall research direction to the team. 

The candidate, assisted by the team, will carry out research through both primary data collection and secondary literature studies. The candidate will be responsible for the team’s research output including reports, policy briefs and articles in media.

The candidate will lead RE team’s advocacy effort through various channels.  He/she will be responsible for dissemination of the team’s research through active engagement with policy makers, think tanks and civil society. The candidate will represent CSE at renewable energy meetings/conferences and communicate with press, television and electronic media. He/she will need to follow regulatory and technical developments in India as well as in other countries, critique policy changes for internal discussions and give feedback to relevant stakeholders including the govt.

The candidate will lead the plan to expand CSE’s renewable energy program in emerging countries in Africa and Asia and to develop a Capacity building program in the renewable energy sector.

Necessary Skills:

  • Extensive understanding of the renewable energy sector with an emphasis on policy.

  • Vital that the candidate can deliver under pressure, adhere to tight deadlines and self-motivated.

  • Strong research and analytical skills – ability to quickly absorb and analyse wide-ranging material and produce well-structured reports.

  • Excellent inter personal skills; needs to be good at networking.

  • Precise, lucid writing; confident, articulate speaker.

  • Ability to manage and mentor a team of younger professionals.

Qualification:

  • Candidates with both technical and social sciences qualifications can apply. A mix of technical and policy background would be preferred.

  • Minimum of around 8-10 years of total work experience. Prior research and advocacy work experience is highly desirable. 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
