FEEDBACK form on state of environmental regulation and regulating institutions in the country |
All of us are concerned about the rising pollution levels, dirty rivers, mountains of waste generated and destruction of ecology due to rapid urbanisation and industrialisation.
We have regulatory mechanisms in place to check these trends. But such mechanisms remain ineffective and have failed miserably.
We would like to find out the reasons behind this. Keeping this in mind, Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has initiated a research programme to study the status of environmental regulations and regulatory institutions in India. Through this project, we want to identify the strengths, weaknesses and gaps in the existing regulatory regime.
And for doing this, we need your help. Many of you have interacted with state pollution control boards (PCBs) and can give us valuable insights into the problems in our regulatory mechanism. We would like to hear from you: How do you rate the performance of PCBs? What are their weaknesses? Can we strengthen the boards?
To help you provide us feedback, we have prepared two separate questionnaires – one for the industry and the other for NGOs. We request you to fill in these forms as your opinion really counts.
The questionnaires are available online till December 15, 2007.
We realise that many of you may be uncomfortable filling the forms, as you have to work with PCBs. Therefore, you also have the option of remaining anonymous.
