National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005 (NREGA)

About NREGA
Mapping NREGA:
The map lists productive assets creation at national, state and district-level under the NREGA. It segregates works undertaken under NREGA into various groups to make a sense of how rural labour is being used to generate sustainable livelihoods. Besides, it also gives state and district level data on natural resources and their uses. The map intends to help policy makers and planners to get a sense of the resources base of districts and how NREGA can be used to increase it for creating local livelihoods. On the long run, the natural resource base data can be used as benchmark to gause the impact of NREGA on local ecology and economy.

Data is sourced from the Union ministry of rural development, Census of India 2001 report, State of the Forest Report 2003, Union ministry of Water Resources and the Second Administrative Reforms Commission Report on Unlocking Human Capital: Entitlements and Governance- a case study, 2005.
