Now 200 days of guaranteed works
The Union government has informed Parliament it would consider doubling the number of days of assured employment under the NREGA to 200 a year.
Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh said, “We will consider members' suggestion for raising the number of days of guaranteed jobs from 100 now to 200.” Many members of parliament have been demanding to increase the number guaranteed days of works under the Act. The ministry also found in its many evaluations that 100 days of work were not helping much to the poor to remain above the poverty line.
