Comprehensive Capacity Building Programme under JnNURM directorate of MoUD

The Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) has designated Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) as a Centre for Comprehensive Capacity Building under the JnNURM directorate for Sustainable Water Management including Water Audit and Efficiency, Sustainable Sanitation including Reuse and Recycle, Water and Energy efficiency. This distinction is a result of CSE’s past efforts and initiatives on rainwater harvesting, decentralised wastewater management, community based water management, river pollution etc. Besides CSE, MoUD has identified few other reputed institutes from all over India to undertake research and other activities in the areas related to urban development (see JnNURM website).

Naturally occurring trans fat is healthy- Study

NOT all trans fats are bad for health. At least not the natural ones found in ghee, butter and cheese. Scientists have found that naturally occurring trans fats in milk and meat products obtained from ruminant animals like cows and buffaloes do not increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases the way industrial trans fats do. CSE Study 2007

Almost one and a half years have passed since the New Delhi based Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) released its first study in May 2006 on heavy metal contamination in the Bandi basin due to textile dyeing and printing industries in Pali city.
