The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is a leading public interest research organisation, working on environmental issues since 1982. It was founded by Anil Agarwal, together with leading journalists, scientists, engineers and other professionals. Its research, communication, education and training programmes focus on issues spanning air and water pollution, natural resources management, climate change, industry-environment and health-environment. It is headed by Sunita Narain, noted environmentalist.

CSE has recently set up the Anil Agarwal Environment Training Institute (AAETI) at Nimli, Tijara district of Rajasthan, two and a half hours from Delhi. The AAETI is situated in a 10-acre property and has been structured to be a model resource efficient and conserving building. The AAETI will offer a range of environmental training programmes to policy and decision makers in the government, industry, universities and other professionals and entrepreneurs. The residential facility, surrounded by forests, aims to offer a unique opportunity to connect with the natural environment and use resources sustainably.

The AAETI is looking for a General Manager to oversee a variety of functions in the campus. We are looking for a person with experience in running an educational facility and in tune with our philosophies.  Responsibilities will include overseeing  AAETI’s water conservation, solid and liquid waste management systems, and its energy conservation measures, in addition to normal facility management routines.

Brief overview of duties and responsibilities:

  • Cleanliness and upkeep of all buildings including residential facilities;
  • Cafeteria and kitchen management;
  • Security functions including protection of personnel and assets;
  • Reception, hostel management and housekeeping functions;
  • Event management;
  • Front and back office functions including office equipment;
  • Travel and vehicle management systems;
  • Inventory and vendor management systems;
  • Fire, safety, pest control and infirmary services;
  • Power supply and electrical systems including DG sets and HVAC systems;
  • Repairs and maintenance including AMCs and insurance;
  • Statutory compliances;
  • Horticulture and landscaping functions;
  • Water conservation and waste management including plumbing;

Applicants must have experience in Facility management for a minimum of 10 years. This is a residential posting and applicants must be prepared to reside in the AAETI campus at Nimli.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
