23 December 2020 — 04 January 2021
Dear readers,

In 2020, India bore the maximum brunt of extreme weather events and the long shadow of colonial forestry remains a threat to savannas and grasslands.

A report narrates the story of three migrants from Assam and West Bengal who have been uprooted from their hometowns by extreme climate events or industrial accidents. Meanwhile the Power Ministry asks MoEFCC to dilute emission norms for coal-based power stations. It is necessary however, that India needs to invest urgently in climate action.

While geoengineering is still a dangerous, techno-utopian dream, scientists agree that relying on forests to achieve net zero targets not a good idea. There is no doubt that humans have to be the point of solution for the planet’s uncontrolled slip into an abyss of ecological disaster.
