November 17 – November 23, 2021
Dear readers,

In his exclusive for Down to Earth, India’s Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav outlines his reasons why COP 26 in Glasgow was a success for the country.

Success or not, the outcomes of the summit are critical for India, as it is likely to be hit the most in Asia by global warming. Climate change is impacting tea production in Assam, and is causing anomalies in the winter monsoon.

Despite India’s position, COP 26 had many forms of climate denial on display, and widespread support for false solutions.

Climate change is also impacting mental health, with a rise in suicides linked to humidity, according to a new study.

And finally, a new factsheet by Down to Earth shows how air pollution is exacerbating climate change in the Himalayas.
