Dear readers,

In April 2022, peninsular India was actually cooler while the northern parts of the country experienced temperature differences normally associated with the polar regions of the world.

Over half the electricity demand during heatwave months in Delhi can be attributed to the need for space cooling, while villages in Odisha are using natural methods to cope with the heat.

We learn about the coal crisis in India, and in particular what different states are doing.

Globally, 400 million tonnes CO2 are pumped into the atmosphere a year from gas flaring.

In Africa, nearly 10 million children in the Horn of Africa are in the ‘greatest danger’ due to drought, says UNICEF. Due to global warming, Africa, along with Asia, are at risk of future zoonotic viruses.

And lastly, we find out if forest fires hinder solar power production.
