Dear readers,

The Earth’s ecosystems may have crossed some of their tipping points due to climate change. Already Greenland’s ice sheet is melting faster this month. This new video discusses tipping points in detail.

The WMO’s United in Science report finds that during January-September 2022, CO2 levels were 1.2% higher than same period last year. The WMO also finds that increasing wildfires and heatwaves will increase “climate penalty”.

The Eastern Mediterranean and West Asia are warming two times faster than global average, according to a new report.

In energy news, the time for green hydrogen in India is now, says Power Minister RK Singh. For other regions like the EU, betting on green hydrogen to fulfil energy needs is ‘risky’, according to experts. And Germany’s hydrogen trains may not be a better alternative for transport.

The Centre for Science and Environment’s Green Schools Programme will host a Climate Convocation this month. And our next online training will be on Demystifying Climate Data for Communication and Action.
