PAN-AFRICA WORKSHOP: Effective Implementation of National Action Plans on Antimicrobial Resistance

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi (India), in association with the Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI),invites journalists working in Africa to attend the Pan-Africa Workshop on Effective Implementation of National Action Plans on Antimicrobial Resistance’. 

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), particularly antibiotic resistance, is a global public health threat known to impact healthcare, food safety, nutrition security, livelihood and attainment of several Sustainable Development Goals. While countries have developed their multi-sectoral National Action Plans (NAPs) on AMR, one of the biggest challenges that still remains is its effective implementation. 

CSE has been collaborating with the National Antimicrobial Resistance Coordinating Committee (AMRCC) through Ministry of Health, Republic of Zambia to facilitate the implementation of Zambia’s multi-sectoral NAP on AMR.The workshop will aimto bring together African countries on a common platform and guide the effective implementation of NAPs through learning and experiences from Zambia. 

Who is eligible to apply for this workshop

Practising and active journalists who cover health, environment and food would be preferred. 

What will journalists get out of this workshop

  • Information and briefing related to AMR, its spread, and its impacts in Africa
  • Information and briefing onimplementation of National Action Plans (NAPs) on AMR
  • Opportunity to interact with experts and representatives of some of the key agencies and organisations working on AMR in Africa 

Support for participating journalists

CSE will support the travel and stay of a few selected journalists working in countries of Africa other than Zambia.
