The Missing Ingredient

Fly ash bricks have emerged as a worthy substitute to clay-fired bricks, not least because they make use of fly ash, a ‘waste’ product from industries, particularly thermal power plants. The production of these bricks has picked up in Delhi-NCR in the last few years. Many different compositions are used to manufacture bricks and to enhance the brick quality, but a Centre for Science and Environment survey found that the manufacturers are missing a key ingredient, compromising their quality.
