Building Operation and Construction

The Energy Audit is conducted on December 2010 for both buildings, and it is estimated that the total use of energy-mix in the buildings is optimally contributed to overall energy consumption demand. The building AAGC and Main CSE building has 98.39 kWh and 89.30 kWh sanctioned load from the grid supply respectively. The annual electricity bills for buildings, diesel and solar energy generation data collectively finds that Main CSE building’s (77%) share in total energy consumption was more than three times that of AAGC (22%) building (see Graph 01).

For a green house

After Pune, which is reaping the benefits of an eco-housing scheme launched last year, Mumbai now can do the same. The decks stand cleared for the launch of an eco-housing scheme in Mumbai, which offers financial incentives to both builders and consumers. Prepared by Pune-based Science and Technology Park and recently adopted by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (mcgm), the scheme will certify green residential complexes, both new constructions and retrofitted buildings.

EU to certify buildings for energy efficiency from 2006

As per a new directive, the eu will certify buildings for energy efficiency from 2006 onwards. The European Climate Change Programme, established in 2000 to meet Kyoto Protocol targets, has identified the construction sector as providing the largest potential for carbon dioxide emission reduction. Buildings already account for up to 40 per cent of the eu's energy consumption. And southern European countries are buying more air-conditioning units, further disturbing the energy balance.
