With an objective of disseminating knowledge and good practices for sustainable water management, the particular case study can be explored on C-GINS on the basis of:

  1. Geographic location with the interactive map
  2. Scale of intervention
  3. Water management objectives

To find a case study on the platform there are three distinct ways explained as follows:

Explore with Map

  • Under this option of searching a case study, an interactive map is provided.
  • The user can Zoom in (ctrl+scroll) and drag the locations in the map.
  • The filters on the left as per the descriptions provided to help the user to find their specific case studies.
  • The location markers are colour coded as per their scale.

  • Upon selecting the desired filters, the location markers on the map will be filtered and all the available case studies under that categorization pop up in form of location markers on the map.
  • Upon moving the cursor on a location marker the user can see the tag of the location marker with the name of the case study and location.

  • Upon clicking on the tag, the user is redirected to the landing page of the selected case study.

The above main case study webpage is a dynamic webpage with an understandable interface which gives the overall summary of the case study in brief. There is provision for the users to download the detailed case studies easily and can also again additional knowledge about the case by visiting the links provided in the resources. Also the users can contribute by uploading their updated version of the particular case study.

  • Upon clicking on the ‘Download pdf’, the PDF will open in a new tab with a download option.

Explore by Scale

  • The case studies have been divided as per the scale of the interventions based on their landuse and the impact of the intervention. So if the case study is of an institutional site, it is categorized under the neighbourhood scale. Interventions like the city master plan will come into city/ zonal scale. Similarly if the treatment technology treats wastewater treated close to a residential site, it is categorized under the individual scale.

  • There are fourscale categories. Upon moving the cursor on any of these scale, the scale box highlights in yellow colour and the graphic of the particular scale changes

  • On clicking upon any of these four scales categories a new web page with case studies opens up. The case studies are shown by the thumbnail view into the gridand filters are provided on the left side pops up to help the users. The users can also use the ‘sort’ tab to sort out the case studies alphabetically, the newest ones and to Indian case studies only.

  • Upon clicking on the case study image or ‘read more’, the user is redirected to the landing page of the selected case study.

C-GINS (Compendium of Green Infrastructure network) is an attempt towards resourcefulness with an aim towards building a community of practice on Green Infrastructure and building a global south centre for Green Infrastructure, advocacy and research. The users can contact us directly to ask a question, provide feedback or to report a problem via “Contact Us” section on the Home page.

To enhance the user’s engagement and participation with the website there’s a special section named ‘Participate’ has been created on the website featuring “Tell us your Story” and “Community of Practitioners FORUM” section.

This enables the users to contribute in our website by submitting their stories and additional case studies.
  • To guide the users a word file template to prepare a case study has been provided for the users to download. Users can edit the same and upload in the portal.

  • The users will get the upload case study window. To upload a case study users will just have to click on the browse tab and select the case study file they want to upload from any device and finally click on ‘save’ the case study. We’ll receive this database in our mail (sww-aaeti@cseindia.org).
