Sponge Cities Project, China

This case study showcases the sponge city project of Wuhan City which comes under China’s ‘Sponge City Programme’ launched in year 2013 to promote the wider adoption of measures such as absorptive roads and permeable. Sponge features include permeable pavements, green roofs, SUDS techniques like swales, detention ponds, bioretention areas, rain gardens, wetlands and other green infrastructure solutions.
