Mid-year climate talks to see adaptation, fossil fuels and delivery in focus

The June climate meetings, formally the 64th session of the Subsidiary Bodies, or SB64, under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), have begun in Bonn, Germany from June 8, 2026 and are expected to run until June 18, 2026. This is the first multilateral climate conference since the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP30), held in Belém, Brazil, last November. National Roundtable on Upscaling Distributed Clean Energy in India
 
Last week, CSE brought together policymakers, state implementers, developers, financiers, researchers, and industry leaders for a three-day National Roundtable on "Beyond Pilots: Upscaling Distributed Clean Energy in India" to discuss pathways for accelerating the deployment of distributed renewable energy (DRE) systems across rural India.

The Roundtable highlighted that distributed renewable energy can play a much larger role in rural India when supported by enabling policies, stronger institutions, innovative financing mechanisms, and community ownership. Discussions focused on scaling proven pilots through coordinated institutional support, mobilising commercial capital through aggregation, standardisation, blended finance, and risk-mitigation instruments, and advancing mini-grids and Model Solar Villages as practical models for improving energy access, supporting livelihoods, strengthening local economies, and reducing pressure on conventional power systems...
