APRIL 2026

spacer Dear GEN member,

This month’s bulletin features CSE’s video unpacking India’s E20 petrol policy, looking beyond the stated goals to examine the trade-offs and implications. Alongside, we spotlight the outcome of Agenda for Survival 2025-26, our student engagement programme for colleges, which equips young people to understand climate issues in context and translate the understanding into meaningful action. Check out these links below and more on engaging with CSE.

As always, we welcome contributions from our network. If you would like to share articles, classroom activities, teaching resources or other relevant material for the bulletin, please send them to gen@cseindia.org with ‘GEN Bulletin Contribution’ as the subject line. We look forward to hearing from you and highlighting your work in future editions.

ALL ABOUT INDIA’S E20 PETROL POLICY
From April 1, 2026, all oil marketing companies in India are mandated to sell E20 petrol. The goal is clear: reduce costly crude oil imports by blending petrol with domestically produced ethanol from food crops, while also lowering tailpipe emissions. But a closer look suggests this policy is a double-edged sword, with trade-offs that deserve scrutiny.
