Dear Reader,
India’s energy transition has entered its next phase. Adding renewable capacity at record speed is no longer enough. The bigger challenge is storing the intermittent solar and wind power—the workhorses of India’s energy transition, which together account for over 30 per cent of the total installed capacity—and dispatching it when needed. How prepared is India for this next phase?
That is the question we explore in Down To Earth’s upcoming cover story. It examines India’s reliance on two energy-storage technologies for grid-scale deployment, and what it will take to unlock their full potential.
I hope you are following our stories and Live Chats series, “India on e-wheels”. In our next Live Chat, we travel to Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. From Tamil Nadu’s strong EV manufacturing base and growing adoption of electric two-wheelers to Gujarat’s efforts to expand clean public transport and build a wider green mobility ecosystem, the two states offer different perspectives on India’s transition to electric mobility. Do Join the conversation as Raju Sajwan and Anil Ashwani Sharma share their experiences from the two states.
We would love to hear from you. Please share your feedback here.
Thank you
Snigdha Das |
