How the NCRB collects the data?

The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) maintains the records which are released in the annual report titled the Accidental Deaths & Suicides in India. The first edition of the report was published in 1967 and the latest edition was released in 2015.

Nodal agency: Union Ministry of Rural Development

The data for the report is collected by State Crime Records Bureau from the District Crime Records Bureaux and sent to NCRB at the end of the year under reference. Data from mega-cities (cities having population of 1 million or more as per the latest census) is also collected separately.
