Dear Readers,

We share the first edition of the Energy Transitions Newsletter for the year 2024. This edition will cover the major developments that took place in the renewable energy space in India in the CY 2023 - developments mostly in the solar and wind sectors, amendments and extensions for inverter and panel manufacturers, and additional development of floating solar in the country.

This year was also the year that India hosted the G20 summit. Energy ministers from the G20 countries met in Goa to discuss renewable energy and the way forward to combat climate change. During this event, there was discussion on the necessity to focus on technology sharing and low-cost financing keeping developing countries in mind. The G20 Summit also saw the launch of The Global Biofuel Alliance to encourage the supply and demand of biofuels.

Dubai hosted COP28 at the end of the year which was monumental in hosting discussions about climate and the participating countries’ accelerated movement towards clean energy. The event was also the first to host a Global Stocktake which would help understand where the world stands from a climate viewpoint and the steps being undertaken at the moment.

It is now necessary for countries to focus on clean energy as we see the effects of climate change, and while India is doing so, it is still lagging in comparison to the development made in the years before this one. In order to achieve the target of 500 GW of renewable energy capacity, India should also focus on renewable energy sources other than solar and wind. It was great to see that development with India approving the National Green Hydrogen Mission and it is hoped that major developments take place in this area in this year.

Below, you'll find additional news and analysis for your review. I trust you'll find these insights valuable. Additionally, I encourage you to explore CSE training programs; they offer opportunities worth considering. Be sure to check out the list of relevant publications and articles-a resource that is likely to captivate your attention and deepen your understanding of this subject.
