‘No-Go’ forests cleared for coal mining, says report

CSE probe finds criteria tweaked to auction blocks in dense forests. नई दिल्ली। अभी तक हम गीला कचरा अलग, सूखा कचरा अलग के नियमों को पूरी तरह आत्मसात कर भी नहीं पाए थे कि अब कोरोना काल में जैविक चिकित्सीय अपशिष्ट ने नई चुनौतियों को जन्म दे दिया है। आलम यह है कि दिल्ली-एनसीआर में जितनी तेजी से संक्रमित मरीजों की संख्या बढ़ रही है उतनी ही तेजी से जैविक अपशिष्ट में भी इजाफा हुआ है। स्थिति का अंदाजा इसी से लगाया जा सकता है कि मई महीने की तुलना में अपशिष्ट 14 गुना तक बढ़ गया है। जैविक अपशिष्टं के निस्तारण के लिए शहर में दो कंपनी एसएमएस वाटर ग्रेस प्राइवेट लिमिटेड और बायोटिक वेस्ट सॉल्यूशन लिमिटेड हैं, जो प्रतिदिन क्रमश: 24 टन और 50 टन कचरे का निदान कर सकते हैं।

Air Pollution Found to Be Harming Health of Wild Pollinators

A recent study shows that air pollution poses a threat not only to humans but to many other organisms of the world including our key pollinator, the honeybee. According to the World Health Organization, 9 of the 10 most polluted cities worldwide are now in India, making life difficult for the locals as well as the nearby wildlife. Pollution in the wild has been known to cause behavioral, neurological and reproductive deficits in animals, whether it be from the harmful particles in the air they breathe or contamination of food and water resources.
