India To Use AI For Building Climate Models: Report
According to reports weather agencies around the world are focusing on using AI and it suggested that India should also adopt the advanced technology for accurate weather forecasting It has been reportedly said that India is testing artificial intelligence (AI) to build climate models to improve weather forecasting. The trial is undertaken as torrential rains, floods and droughts are proliferating across the country. This AI development came following the intense trigger of weather systems in India which has been recently increasing with the extreme weather events. The independent Centre for Science and Environment has also estimated that nearly 3,000 people were killed due to national calamity this year. According to reports weather agencies around the world are focusing on using AI and it suggested that India should also adopt the advanced technology for accurate weather forecasting as the agricultural country is also one of the world's second-largest producers of rice, wheat and sugar. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is currently informing and forecasting weather updates based on mathematical models using supercomputers. The AI- usage will allow the agency an expanded observation network generating higher-quality forecast data at lower cost.
