In August 2018, Kerala received worst flood after July 1924. Several NGO, Government organisations and Private sector assisted Kerala Government for Flood rescue and rehabilitation majors. One of the agencies UNICEF actively engaged in rehabilitation measures, as part of their programme selected PriMove Infrastructure Development Consultants Pvt Ltd and TBF Environmental Solutions Pvt Ltd to design and implement a 10 KLD faecal sludge treatment plant for Kalpetta Town.
 
 
  • The plant is based on “Tiger Bio Filter” Technology which is highly effective, space efficient and 100% natural.
  • This technology is comprised of 4 processes: anaerobic digestion, Vermi filtration-I, Vermi Filtration-II and polishing. The Earthworm based vermi filtration rapidly treats waste matter, without creating any nuisance or smell. Vermi filtration is reportedly a superior form of sanitation technology, compared to conventional methods such as septic tanks and pit latrines.
  • In vermin filters, earthworms are known to promote digestion of organic waste, which results in the production of vermi-compost. The worms need only air, water and organic matter to form a sustainable population.
