Dialogue with Development Partners for a collaborative response to COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh

Corona virus pandemic has disrupted the lives across the globe. India has been impacted with 14759 active case and 590 deaths as of 21st April 2020. Uttar Pradesh has also seen rise in the number of cases with 1184 cases and 18 deaths as of 21st April 2020. Uttar Pradesh government supported by various development partners and NGOs have been quick to respond to this COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the aegis of ‘Alliance for Urban Transformation’, Department of Urban Development, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh, the Programme Support Unit – DoUD U.P. (CSE) would like call development partners, NGOs to share their experience and suggestion for supporting the COVID-19 response in cities Uttar Pradesh. 

This meeting aims to facilitate synergies in the efforts of all the partners and deliberate upon areas of collaboration and develop a way forward for effective coordinating mechanism among all the partners for COVID response in Uttar Pradesh. This would be the second meeting of the ‘Alliance for Urban Transformation’, acting as a forum for state partners for scaling-up partnerships.

Objective:

  • Updates related to the efforts and initiatives from various development partners during this COVID crisis.
  • Understand the challenges and the support needed by the development partners for effective response to this crisis.
  • Feedback on improving coordination and avoid duplication of efforts in the state.
  • Developing an action plan for a collaborative response to COVID in Uttar Pradesh.

Brief Itinerary for the event

Introduction and Setting the context: The need for a collaborative response to the COVID pandemic in the state of Uttar Pradesh.  – by Dr Kajal (IAS) (10 mins)

Presentation / updates: Brief updates by various development partners on their interventions and plan of action to fight COVID in the state. (5 mins each)

Discussion and way-forward: Potential areas of collaboration, suggestions on improving coordination and synergies in efforts by all partners (10 mins)

Concluding remarks by the chairperson

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is supporting the Department of Urban Development (DoUD) GoUP in citywide sanitation with focus on Faecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM). During this COVID crisis, CSE is committed towards supporting the State in the COVID response particularly safeguarding the frontline workers and other vulnerable groups impacted by this crisis.
