The pond receives 1 lakh litres of sewage on daily basis. Although, 40 floating Islands are needed to treat such a big quantity of sewage but here only 4 islands with specific bio media reflected the same results. Earlier the pond was totally covered with green layer which has been converted into a biofilm with the help of bio media placed underneath the islands. Fishes, insects, birds are also swarming to the islands and have helped restore the bio-diversity.

Floating Islands provide habitat to organisms such as invertebrates, insects, fishes, birds, etc to restore the ecological cycle. Four floating islands have been installed at site which is optimized for bio-film development, ensuring maximum water treatment per unit area. Floating Islands provide the following benefits:Improve water quality by drawing out nutrients and other pollutants

  • Support ecology and bio-diversity. All kinds of invertebrates, fishes, birds, mammals are drawn to the Island
  • Beautification tool for the water body
  • Cover surface of water body to provide shade, reduce temperature, reduce algae growth and reduce evaporation.
