There exists strong synergy between renewable energy (RE) and rural development in India. Rapid economic development is leading to increase in electricity demand which is impacting power generation and infrastructure growth. The scope of increased energy services in household end-use can promote development, especially in terms of increased per capita income. With nearly 65 per cent of population residing in rural areas and 47 per cent dependent solely on agriculture for livelihoods, the scope of DRE in promoting development services in the rural economy is huge. Rural electrification with RE can aid in regional economic development by increasing non-farm employment, ensuring social welfare, improving public service quality and increasing electricity reliability and stability -- while simultaneously creating jobs in the green economy.
Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is inviting applications for a three-day residential training programme -- DRE for Rural Development. This programme will equip grassroots organizations with the skills to understand the challenges, techno-economic feasibility, and financial viability of DRE systems. It will also guide policymakers and CSOs on current implementation hurdles and help tailor suitable solutions.
WHAT THE COURSE WILL COVER
Note: Registration is not a guarantee of acceptance of admission in the training programme. The programme has limited seats, so please apply well in time.
