Social media Journalist for Centre for Science and Environment

Centre for Science and Environment, a non-profit institution known for its rigorous and scientific policy research and advocacy on environmental issues, is looking for a social-media journalist for its Down To Earth (DTE) website (English and Hindi). The selected candidate will be responsible for growing and maintaining DTE’s presence on existing and new social media channels,use their potential to tell stories differently and reach them to a wider audience. S/he is expected to: 

• Drive usage and engagement for Down To Earth on social media
• Curate and manage Down To Earth’s existing social media channels and build presence on new channels
• Showcase DTE’s content (across languages) appropriately on social media
• Tell stories in new formats, suitable to channel formats and their audience
• Engage audience with our domain through creatives, audio-visuals and interactives
• Moderate user engagement and comments on the channels and the website
• Liaison with wider CSE team to showcase them on DTE as necessary
• Innovate and find opportunities and new avenues on social media 

Skills and Qualifications: 

• Three-six years’ of experience in managing social media and online communication — must have technical skills as well as the ability to create and manage content.
• Keen understanding of digital and social media tools and skills and how to use them innovatively and to advantage
• Understanding of how to position content on social media platforms for maximum impact and draw new users
• Good writing and editing skills in English and Hindi
• Experience in journalism will be given preference 

Salary: CSE pays competitive salary commensurate with qualification and experience.
