The Evolving Landscape of Environment Education in India

Environmental degradation and ecological imbalances have emerged as critical concerns of our time, underscoring the urgent need for a stronger and more integrated approach to environmental education. However, environmental education in India continues to face several challenges—including gaps in curriculum, pedagogy and implementation.

CSE’ Green Educators’ Network (GEN) invites you to a special session with Dr. Chong Shimray, Associate Professor at the Department of Education in Science and Mathematics, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). Based on her extensive field and research experience, Dr. Shimray will cover an overview of the current landscape of environmental education in India, key gaps in policy, practice, and curriculum and the vital role of educators in addressing these challenges and shaping responsive learning frameworks.
