Specialized Training for Rajasthan officials on Safe Toilet Designs, Treatment and Reuse of Faecal Sludge in Rural Areas of Rajasthan

Rural Water and Waste has re-started its 3-days residential "Specialized Training for Rajasthan officials on Safe Toilet Designs, Treatment and Reuse of Faecal Sludge in Rural Areas of Rajasthan” from 13 - 15 March, 2021. This was a specialized sponsored training program developed for the Rajasthan SBM Government officials. Rural water and waste conducted a study in Alwar to understand its preparedness to go to SBM Phase-II. Based on the findings, the team prepared a tailor made program for the officials of Rajasthan.

The program intended to advocate the importance of decentralized treatment in rural scenarios. The program shall equip participants with designing of Biogas Based toilets and the take up retrofitting of present single pit toilets in the rural areas of Rajasthan.

The training started with understanding issues and basics of liquid waste management, followed by lessons on DPR preparation. Sessions on technical aspects related to retrofitting of toilets, EcoSan and biogas toilets were taken up during the training. Participants were involved in various hands-on activities. The training involved field visit to the AAETI water treatment units and exposure to the AAETI specialized fecal sludge lab.

A total of 21 participants have joined in from the various districts in the state to attend the training program.
