BUILDING BETTER: Certificate Course for Sustainable Building Practices and Policies

posterCentre for Science and Environment’s Sustainable Buildings Programme is organizing 5 day training on Green buildings. The programme aims to enable participants to adopt a common sense approach to green buildings, one that blends traditional wisdom with modern science.

The certificate course titled "Building Better" on building practices and policies is scheduled from 2nd to 6th September 2013. The course is open for students and young professionals from the fields of architecture, planning, environment and engineering.

The itinerary for the five day course includes more than 20 sessions including classroom lectures, group exercises, interactive discussions etc. The course would cover an array of aspects which explore real sustainability by deconstructing green building sector, design, technologies and equipments options for energy efficient buildings, intelligent water management, emerging building related policies and regulations and policies and more. The nuances of these aspects would be elaborated through case studies and examples from across the country. In addition there would special lectures on adopting vernacular wisdom and appropriate technology for present day construction.

The sessions would be interspersed with classroom exercises to help the participants grasp the aspects being discussed. To enable rooted learning across the table, the participants would be presenting and sharing their learning and perspectives based on research and lectures. 

The interactive modules are designed to encourage participants to acquire 360° understanding and hands on experience to look for their own solutions for designing better buildings.

All the lectures, presentations and classroom exercises would be conducted by eminent architects, energy and building experts and CSE professionals.

The course fee for students is Rs 6,000 and Rs. 8000 for professionals. This would include course materials, field visits, lunch and tea/coffee.  The lectures would organized in fully equipped classroom at
