GSP's Online National Teacher's Meet and Briefing Workshop

The COVID-19 pandemic has radically changed the idea of classroom learning and interaction. Despite severe limitations in terms of digital reach and capability, teachers across the country have risen up to the challenge and are making every effort to sustain students’ interest in and uptake of the curriculum. It is heartening to note how teachers have leveraged the ever-changing landscape to improve the learning experience.

The need for environmental education, which often takes a backseat in mainstream education, has been felt more strongly during the ongoing health crisis. CSE’s Green Schools Programme (GSP), with support from its network schools, has been consistently organising activities to keep environment education effective and enjoyable during these times.

In yet another similar endeavour, we are organising a two-day National Teacher’s Meet and Briefing Workshop to bring educators and GSP members from across the country together to learn about two very critical issues of environment – solid waste and its management, and air pollution and how to counter it. Both issues are relevant for our homes as well as schools, and both impact our lives in significant ways.

Over two days in July, therefore, we are inviting some of CSE’s leading experts in these two subjects for a briefing and interaction with our GSP members. Sunita Narain, CSE’s Director General, will inaugurate the meet. The first day of the meet will focus on solid waste management, with specific reference to the problem and its management in homes and schools. The second day of the meet will be devoted to understanding the issue of air pollution, its impacts, and how to control it in the school and home environments.

On this occasion, we will also release two new publications specifically designed for our GSP community.

Please note that we are inviting a maximum of two teachers and the principal from each school. We look forward to seeing all of you at the meet.
