India has a large dairy farming sector, which is central to rural livelihoods, nutrition and economy. It is critical that the sector continues to grow sustainably: it should be disease-resistant, productive, cost-effective and generate more livelihoods and safe milk. Part of this transition can happen by leveraging and scaling up preventive approaches such as better farm management, vaccination, biosecurity, improved breeds, alternatives, and better feed and fodder.
Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is organising a three-day workshop and training programme for stakeholders and interested individuals to develop an understanding on how preventive and sustainable approaches can be scaled across India’s dairy farming sector. It will reflect on status, challenges and solutions across such approaches. The deliberations are also expected to help in cross-learning between stakeholders.
