Programme Overview

CSE’s Sustainable Food Systems programme aims to transform how food is produced, processed, distributed and consumed -- nourishing people without depleting the planet. Grounded in a One Health framework, the initiative integrates climate-resilient and agroecological practices, combats public health risks such as ultra-processed foods and antimicrobial resistance, and safeguards equitable livelihoods for producers.

Through evidence-based campaigns, research, policy advocacy and capacity building, the programme aligns agricultural policy with environmental stewardship to build a climate-adaptive food future. Its current focus includes scaling climate-resilient and agroecological agriculture, establishing prevention-led pathways for sustainable livestock and fisheries, enforcing consumer-centric regulations on junk food marketing, and strengthening policy frameworks surrounding pesticide and chemical use in food production.
