Short Course "E-Outreach and Engagement: Digital communication for advocacy, influence and impact" Date: December 19-21, 2017

How can you communicate with your target audience as often as necessary, in a way that suits your organization’s objectives and achieve the results you need as efficiently as possible?

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Blogs have already become low-cost and effective outreach and engagement tools for both business and the development sector when it comes to reaching out to different segments of society.

  • But how to make sense of the dozens of platforms available?
  • Which ones offer the best outreach and engagement potential?
  • What should be the key elements of a digital communication strategy for an organisation?
  • Where are the best practices and what precautions are recommended?

To provide clarity on these frequently asked questions, the Centre Science and Environment (CSE) is conducting a three-day course. This certificate course is structured to provide insights into the world of social media.

Who should attend?:

  • Professionals working in the development sector/ advocacy organisations and handling advocacy, awareness, activism and other outreach and engagement work.
  • Professionals with government and international development organisations handling documentation, communication, public relation and websites will also be considered.

Learning Outcomes: 

At the end of the course, you will have all the ideas needed to create and put into action a digital communications plan that will help you widen the ambit of communications strategy.
 You will also be able to:

  • Acquire and strengthen skills to make the most of online tools for advocacy, activism and brand building.
  • Appreciate the role of data as an integral component of communication and learn skills to communicate using data
  • Learn strategic use of e-mail for outreach
  • Gain an insight about digital fund raising
  • Learn to leverage use of photos/videos as an integral component of communication
  • Plan and develop web communication strategy to engage stakeholders
  • Choose the best communications channel for each piece of digital content you share
  • Be able to measure, monitor and evaluate online communication plan

A Certificate of Participation will be awarded by the CSE on completion of the course. The CSE is a leading global think tank with over 35 years of experience in research, communication and knowledge-based advocacy. The course will be delivered by leading practitioners and experts on development communication.

Eligibility & Application 

  • This three-day course is limited to 30 participants selected from open application process.
  • Multiple applications from the same organisation are welcome, although they will compete among themselves.
  • Interested journalists may also apply. This is not a journalism workshop, but various aspects of outreach and communication covered in the workshop are useful for the journalists.

  1.  Medium of Instruction
    The course will be conducted in English. Functional proficiency in English is expected.
  2. Course Fee
    Private individuals, Corporate, government and international organisations: Rs. 12,000 per participant. NGOs: Rs. 7,200 per participant

Note: Course fee includes instructional fee, reading material, lunch and refreshments. Accommodation and related costs are not included. However, CSE can help you find a place to stay.

The course fee should be paid in advance by demand draft / cheque / bank transfer in the name of CENTRE FOR SCIENCE AND ENVIRONMENT.
