The main aim of this training was to involve stakeholders and to devise a draft city sanitation plan for their respective cities. Dr. Rohilla encouraged and motivated the participants to complete preparation of CSPs and make the document live by implementing the CSPs in their cities as it is an integral part for mainstreaming citywide sanitation in the country. He introduced CSE team (Dr. Mahreen Matto, Deputy Programme Manager, Ms. Chhavi Sharda, Sr. Research Associate) & GIZ team (Ms. Sarah, Mr. Rahul Sharma and Ms. Soma Biswas) who were facilitating the training programme and ensured technical support in terms of preparation of Shit Flow Diagrams and implementation of Decentralised Wastewater Treatment systems.

During the training, participants discussed and worked on preparing an action plan indicating short, medium and long term goals. A roadmap was also discussed for participants to strengthen the existing draft CSP after the training along with next steps. There were also presentations by implementers of some good practices like Soil Biotechnology, DEWATs for Septage Management which further encouraged participants to understand the need for well thought out plans and solutions at decentralised scale also incorporated into the planning process for achieving city wide sanitation.
