Why are Indian cities getting hotter each year?

With temperatures soaring close to 50°C, urban areas are turning into heat traps, 10–15°C hotter than their rural surroundings. Concretization, vanishing vegetation and waterbodies, vehicular emissions, and heavy reliance on ACs are fueling the urban heat island effect. Vulnerable communities face the worst of it. And the ability to adapt is wearing thin.
