As a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, PSU Lucknow, in collaboration with Arj Foundation  organized an awareness cum orientation programme of Self Help Groups (SHGs) on 'Making water & sanitation sensitive cities’ on 1st November, 2021,

The program was attended by 100 different SHGs working in Lucknow as well as officials from different departments were present. Officials included Chief Health Officer, Lucknow Nagar Nigam, Project Officer, District Urban Development Agency (DUDA), Director, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Labour Enforcement Officer, Ministry of Labour & Employment and State Lead (WASH and SHG), UNICEF.

A nukkad natak, aimed at creating awareness on 'Making water & sanitation sensitive cities’ was the key highlight of the event. In addition, SHGs were given basic orientation on the same topic.

The objective of this event was to sensitize and orient these SHGs and use them as multipliers to spread the intended message further to the masses.

Also, through this, we would be identifying the brightest SHGs and involving them in advocacy on citywide inclusive sanitation at the state level (through their involvement in Operation & Maintenance of FSTPs and CT/PTs).
