Cement Industry is resource and energy intensive. Indian cement sector has recognized this aspect very well and during past two decades, it has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions through improved energy efficiency; increased use of alternative fuels and optimization of resource use efficiency. The investments made in pollution control measures have drastically reduced air emissions; water pollution and waste generation. However, there are numerous challenges that still need to be addressed to make this sector environmentally sustainable and regulatory compliant.
