Hubbali airport is now solar powered

On November 20th, the airport in Hubballi gained the distinction of being a 100% green airport, following the commissioning of a 8MWp grid connected solar power plant. Reacting, Union Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi said, "We are proud that Hubballi airport is the first green airport in the state of Karnataka. The energy generated by this plant will be fed to the grid at Hubballi."

The stored energy, he added, would be used for all (Airports Authority of India) airports in Karnataka---Belagavi, Mysore, Bellary, Bengaluru and the HAL Airport in Bangalore.
