Solar rooftop portal for Rajasthan launched

A solar rooftop portal for the state of Rajasthan was launched by the state’s power minister Bhanwar Singh Bhati. It will streamline the process involved in the approvals from distribution companies (Discoms) for installation of rooftop solar in the state. Industry insiders believe this will facilitate (electricity) consumers of Rajasthan Discoms when they apply for rooftop grid connected solar PV systems under RTS Phase-II scheme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy---wherein a domestic consumer can get such PV systems on subsidised rates. The competitive rates are arrived at by a transparent tender process as per Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd rules through an e-procurement system by Ajmer Discom for all three Rajasthan Discoms. In the scheme, there is a provision of subsidy up to 40% for capacity up to 3kWp and 20% for >3kWp up to 10kWp, according to Prahlad Chandra Tiwari, an Accredited Energy Auditor (AEA-0130) under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.
