The training on SFD was initiated by providing the participants a brief overview of the usefulness of the tool. The session entailed a discussion where participants were looking at SFD graphic as a tool which would solve advocacy level issues which the participants, who were majorly working on ground level, face while making people and people’s representatives aware of the ongoing sanitation issues which are not visible to the eye. The next session was on “how to make a SFD and make your own SFD where after much discussion and lectures, participants started to understand how to get the data required to make the graphic, how to feed in the data, how to filter out which data would be empirical to prepare a SFD.The training was done for 26 participants, who were from water aid India and their partners working at the grassroot level.
Key take away from this training is that 2 years ago no one was aware of the SFD tool. But this time more than 90% of the participants who attended the training were aware of the SFD tool. Almost 90% of the participants were practitioners who attended the training wanted to learn this tool and CSE’s method and approach to prepare the SFD for their target cities. We hope to see a lot of SFDs prepared by our training participants in near future.
