Orientation Programme on Urban transportation reforms for clean and liveable cities: March 22 – 24, 2011

     
The orientation programme during March 22 – 24, 2011 brought together a select group of policy makers from different cities of India. These include Nanded, Maharashtra; Mumbai; Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh; Kolkata, Kozhikode, Kerala; Kottayam, Kerala; Korba, Chattisgarh; Chennai and Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The objective of this forum is to promote good regulatory practices in air quality and mobility management. Cities have already begun to develop action plans in response to the air quality management policies, National Urban Transport Policy and the reform agenda of the JNNURM to achieve clean air and sustainable mobility. These along with the state level transportation and clean air action plans have created the policy opportunity for change. This forum facilitated interaction with a select group of experts and resource persons to capture the learning in the region as well as demonstrate change through field based case studies.
