Deputy Programme Manager for Sustainable Industrialization Programme

Background 

The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), India’s leading public policy research institution is looking to expand its work on minimising industrial pollution. The sustainable industrialization team of CSE is working to reduce the environmental footprint of heavy industries and SMEs, prepare roadmaps for strengthening environmental governance and assist the stakeholders in the implementation of various developed strategies. 

CSE is looking for a Deputy Programme Manager for its sustainable industrialization programme. The candidate will work on sectors like environmental governance, industrial waste, circularity, environmental compliance etc. The candidate should be willing to travel as well as engage with key government and other relevant stakeholders in order to have better understanding of the sector. 

Job description                                                                                                     

  • To do research and document information by using relevant government data sources amongst others;
  • Travel for ground surveys, meetings, workshops and similar activities;
  • Develop strategies for various environmental issues;
  • Tracking and reporting developments on relevant issues;
  • Engage with regulators and other stakeholders;
  • To participate in relevant conferences, workshops and also conduct capacity building programme for various stakeholders; 

Qualification and experience 

  • Minimum Masters Degree in environment / other engineering backgrounds with an experience of working in the field of environment;
  • Have experience of 5-7 years in the areas of SME’s/ circular economy/ industrial waste. Candidates with lesser experience will be considered for the position of Programme Officer;
  • Sound understanding of pollution issues and their management strategies;
  • Experience in engaging with relevant stakeholders from the government and industry;
  • Prior experience of working on environmental governance and policies in Africa and South Asia will be an added advantage;
  • Strong analytic skills including quantitative research skills;
  • Good oral and written communication skills. 

Salary & Designation: Will be commensurate with experience and skills.
