The programme on "Social Impact Assessment” was conducted by the Centre for Science and Environment, from 5-9 October, 2015 in New Delhi.
As a part of this programme, 19 participants (14 from India and 5 from Srilanka) participated in the programme . The course majorly focused on technical know how of conducting Social Impact Assessment that included understanding issues and challenges around land acquisition, enhancing skills of participants in socio-economic surveys, guidance on how to conduct public consultations, data collection, how to plan before land acquisition and various strategies for rehabilitation and resettlement plan. The course also discussed about applicable central/state laws such as Panchayat (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act (PESA), The Forest Rights Act, 2006, and the Companies Acts, 2013.
Mr. Saumya Ranjan Nath coordinated the programme on behalf of Centre for Science and Environment.
