Online Course on: Global Climate Law and Governance: Regulations, Policy and Emerging Frontiers

Global environmental governance has moved far beyond the early frameworks that emerged from the Stockholm Conference in 1972, growing into an expansive and dynamic system of laws, institutions, negotiations and market mechanisms. Its vast domain influences policy at every level. 

CSE is offering a one-stop course which introduces participants to the foundations of the global response, international frameworks alongside national action and its integration methods. It explores the legal and policy principles, ideas that define climate action with fairness and responsibility of development priorities. It widens the knowledge by showcasing the methods of engagement with climate issues at large in the current times. 

The course will bridge foundational knowledge with future-facing developments, enabling learners to navigate both the established architecture and the expanding frontiers that define its trajectory, and empowering them to be participants in the global climate conversations.

• Basic global climate law architecture and its governing institutions
• Environmental principles including transboundary harm, precautionary principle, polluter pays etc
• Notable climate cases such as the ICJ Advisory Opinion on Climate Change
• Net zero and its integration into national planning
• Climate action policy mechanisms such as carbon markets and taxation
• Creative outreach methods for building climate change awareness
• New frontiers like deep sea mining, plastics treaty negotiations, and EPR frameworks
