India has enacted several landmark environmental laws—including the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, and the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986—to prevent and control environmental degradation. Over the years, the country has built a robust legal and regulatory framework to safeguard natural ecosystems and public health.
But as environmental regulations continue to evolve, professionals working in this space must stay current with the law. From new waste management rules to strengthen compliance requirements and the growing role of environmental courts, understanding the legal landscape is crucial for anyone engaged in environmental work today.
To address this need, the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is offering a 10-day online training programme “Training on Environmental Law Essentials: Tools for Today’s Changemakers” from September 8-17, 2025, that unpacks India’s key environmental laws, recent regulatory developments, institutions, and the practical significance of these laws in driving sustainable environmental governance.
Whether you're from industry, academia, civil society, or government, this course will help you build a solid foundation in environmental law—and apply it meaningfully in your work!
